The current project is for the design of the first large scale aquaculture facility in Qatar. Even though the Aquaculture department has been carrying out pilot scale studies, a full-fledged facility for carrying out research in various areas of aquaculture and fisheries has not been established so far, and the current project is intended to cater to the above requirement. The successful establishment and functioning of this facility will thus help the development of aquaculture industry in the State of Qatar.

The main components of the project are,
Aquaculture Design, including seed production section, plankton
cultivation unit, brood stock unit, nursery unit, and grow out
unit.
Design of processes like aeration system, Photo-intensity
regulation system, temperature control system, filtration
system, effluent treatment system, degassing system,
Ultra-Violet or ozone water treatment system etc.
Design of the pumping and recirculation systems, including the
head loss calculation for the intake pipe, as well as the design
of pump stations, beach wells, drainage channels etc.
Architectural and structural design of Office Buildings, Annexe
Buildings, and specialized laboratory unit incorporating the
requirements of aquaculture design, as well as their individual
functions.
Design of all services like electricity, water supply, drainage,
lighting, HVAC etc.
External works, including infrastructure works, hard and soft
landscaping, roads, and parking areas etc.
