GEIC was appointed by the Department of Technical & Economic Studies, MMAA to carry out the preliminary and detailed design for three new Wholesale Central Markets to be constructed at Umm Salal, Al Wakrah and Al Rayyan

The three new markets are intended to cater to the requirements of people residing at the above three municipalites. These well planned market complexes comprise main market hall, administration building, mosque, accomodation, flea market, cold storage, general stores, shops, slaghter house, markets for live pigions and birds etc

The main markets are centrally air conditioned. Besides shops selling various types of items, public ameniteis provided at the main market buildign include a post office, cafeteria, and bank.

The proposed markets have well laid out internal roads, water, electricity and qtel networks, sewerage and stormwater disposal systems. etc. Auxiliary buildings inside the complexes include electric sub-staion, water tank, public toilets and recreational areas. Each campus has a sewage treatment palnt for treating the effluent from slaughter houses, to attain conformance with the discharge requirements of environmental and drainage departments.
